Wisdom teeth, needle phobia, valium?
I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled soon, and my 2 worst fears are needles and surgery. They're going to prescribe me valium for the night before and the morning of. Any tips on controlling my fear? How will the valium effect me? And how is the whole post surgery process?also i LOVE smoothies, can i drink those afterwards?

Having college physical and getting multiple shots. How to handle with extreme needle phobia?
I recently got a letter from my college saying I need a grand total of three freakin' shots. Oh, sure, that'd be fine and dandy if I could actually get them. I'm extremely afraid of needles. even thinking about them scares me to the point of tears. I've always had the phobia, and I had to go through the hell of getting a tetanus or whatever it is this summer. I just simply can't go through with getting shots. After I got the shot this summer I had continuous nightmares and it brings me to tears everytime I think about it. I....I have no idea how I can go through with getting three shots.Now, is there anyway that they could sedate me or knock me out that doesn't involve using a needle so I can go through with the shot? Or, can anyone give me some tips on how to deal with this phobia to prep myself for the day of dread. XD ON A SIDE NOTE I know I need my needle phobia addressed. I can't speak to my mother, seeing as she's a nurse and seems to assume that shots are easy. I haven't really gotten to speak with anyone about this, and it's becoming crippling. Is there counseling available for phobias like this?

My needle phobia is making me consider suicide. Help?
Please note I'm talking about a PHOBIA here, so please don't answer if you're going to be insensitive or if you really don't know another answer besides " look away while they do it." I am being extremely pressured into a blood test for immigration, but I can't do it. My parents are depending on me to get this done in order to get Canadian permanent residence which I've never wanted, this is not my home . I tried to go to the lab on Friday, but ended up violently lashing out and throwing up. I had taken three Lorazem and only felt uncoordinated but as anxious as ever. I threw up for two days afterwards, with on and off panic attacks until now. There's a time limit for the blood work to be done, and I'm in such a desperate situation that I just don't think anything's worth it. I feel trapped with no way out and I'm desperate. There is no support for me and I've been mocked to no end by medical staff. I don't know what to do anymore, I need advice, fast.

How to get over my needle phobia fastt?
I've got a dental injection tomorrow I'm absoloutely terrified of needles i like properly freak out and start crying shaking...I've been to a hypnotherapist and learnt some breathing stuff but im still SO scared P i know my mum's gonna be mad if i cant do this cos she paid tons for the therapy...how can i deal with the injection?? Ok my son has a horrible needle phobia. He is 16 about to be 17. We tell him before hand and he will get in the car but when we get there we have to force him down. My husband has to sit on him to give him one. And its so bad he is crying in fear. I dont want him to be that afraid because they are important to life. He needs to understand. URGENT!!! needle phobia self medicating?
i'm absolutely fucking terrified off syringes. i'm 18 years old and i've managed, somehow over the years, to very slightly grow out of my fear of shots, but i've avoided getting blood drawn for years. now i have to get some drawn in the next couple of days, and i'm a wreck. everyone just tells me to look away while they're doing it, or " just breathe" or some unhelpful shit like that. i need something more. i doubt the nurse will do me any special favors because it's a busy clinic, so i'm seriously considering self medicating. maybe showing up slightly trashed, stoned out of my mind, or hopped on whatever over the counter prescription sedatives i can get ahold of. yes i know it'll show up in my bloodwork but i don't even care. please if anyone has tried this, give me some REAL ADVICE. i won't be able to face this sober conscious

Is there anything I can do about my needle phobia (I need braces)?
ok, so i'm 17 and my teeth are quite crooked and i hate them a lot it can really get me down sometimes. Twice before have I attempted to get braces but the dentists are adamant that I get my two top back teeth out. I know I may seem a little old for them now but to be honest I don't care too much I will need them for two years... The whole idea of tooth extraction freaks me out, which is common, but what really stops me from getting them is my stupidly extreme fear of needles. The fear is so bad that when I broke my arm almost a year ago now it was a very bad break I refused injections of morphine and what not and coped with the agony. See, I really need to get my teeth sorted out, I even have an over bite which puts pressure on my teeth. Will the orthodontist even let me go back for a third time? I still have my retainer and it fits perfectly, but I'm not sure if they will let me attempt it again because of the whole sees needle and freaks out scenario . They won't allow me to be put to sleep no matter how much I ask. Sorry this is a really long question.this is mainly about my needle phobia, and whether the orthdontist will let me attempt the procedure a third time

About to be thrown out of medical school because of needle phobia! What do I do!!?
I started medical school in the UK this september, and I have to have an occupational health appointment which involves a blood test, hep B jabs and mantoux test.I have missed my appointment 4 times now. The 4th time was about 10 minutes ago. I bought some EMLA cream and have even made sure that my skin was numb by putting a needle into my own skin a few days earlier.Before my 4th appointment, I put on the EMLA cream and my skin is 100 % numb, but I still couldn't physically go into the room. It's not actually the 'pain' that bothers me, its the thought of the needle and the blood, and even the smell of clinical areas I just can't do it.I know this is absolutely ridiculous for someone who wants to be a doctor, but the only way I think I could go through with the injections is if I did them to myself rather than letting the nurse do them I have absolutely no training in this , alternatively i'd have to be unconscious on NOx gas which I don't think they would allow for such a minor procedure .My medical school has already warned me that I will be thrown out if I don't go to the appointments, and they probably think I have something to hide, as I haven't told them that i've got a phobia Can anyone help me to force myself into the room, as I know that there is going to be absolutely no pain especially with the EMLA anesthetic Thanks

How do i get my son over needle-phobia. Bad experience today! Help!!?
Ok my 15 yr old son has needle phobia because when he was 6 he had to get a lot of bloodwork done and it scarred him. Well i told him it was a check up and when we were in the room they said we will be right back. I knew what that meant and i told him what was going to happen. He FREAKED. They came in and they got one of the other men to help hold him down. He was too strong and they couldn't get it in his arm. They flipped him over and the Dr literally had to sit on him. They said we will give it in his rear. They pulled his shorts down a bit and when they put the needle in he yelled?? It doesn't hurt and he knows that. He plays football too and its like he is 4 all over again. My husband got mad and when we got home he said," If you are going to act like your 4 then we are treating you like your 4. He made him lean over the couch and took a belt and hit him 3 times. He sent him to his room and I went to the door and heard him sobbing quietly. I walked in and just rubbed his back. He finally got up and we talked it over and he just hugged me and cried some more. My husband should NOT have handled it that way. I dont know what to do anymore. We have tried therapists, talking, meds, nothing works.
